The robot vacuum market has matured into something more consequential than convenience. What used to be a supplemental cleaning device is now, at the higher end, a largely self-sufficient system. The Roborock QV 35A positions itself directly in that shift. It aims to deliver near-flagship autonomy without the associated price tier.
The result is a product that does not attempt to redefine the category, but instead refines what matters most for everyday users.
The QV 35A strikes an effective balance between performance, automation, and cost. It is not the most powerful or the most advanced robot vacuum available, but it covers the majority of real-world needs with minimal friction. For most households, it is a rational and defensible purchase.
At a glance, the QV 35A looks conventional. The robot itself follows the familiar circular design language, with a low-profile LiDAR turret and a finish that prioritizes function over visual flair. Where it differentiates is not the robot, but the dock.
The included multifunction dock is central to the experience. It automates dust emptying, mop washing, water refilling, and pad drying. This dramatically reduces the frequency of manual intervention and shifts the device closer to a true set-and-forget system.
The tradeoff is size. The dock is noticeably bulky and requires dedicated space, making it less suitable for tighter living environments.
In day-to-day use, the QV 35A performs closer to premium models than its positioning might suggest. Its suction power is sufficient for hard floors and low-pile carpets, where it consistently removes dust, debris, and pet hair without issue.
On thicker carpets, performance becomes more situational. It can maintain surface cleanliness, but it does not deliver the deep extraction associated with higher-end or upright vacuums. This limitation is expected at this tier and does not undermine its overall utility.
The mopping system is a more notable strength. Dual spinning pads provide a scrubbing action that is materially more effective than passive drag-style systems. Routine marks and light stains are handled well, and the automatic mop lifting ensures carpets remain dry during mixed cleaning cycles. As with most robotic mops, however, it struggles with heavily dried or stubborn residue.

Navigation remains one of Roborock’s strongest areas, and the QV 35A continues that pattern. Its LiDAR-based system maps spaces quickly and with a high degree of accuracy, enabling efficient pathing and consistent room coverage.
Obstacle avoidance is generally reliable, capable of identifying and navigating around smaller objects that would typically disrupt lower-end models. While no system is flawless, real-world performance is stable and predictable, which is ultimately more valuable than occasional peak performance.
The companion app experience is well-developed and aligns with expectations for the category. Users can define cleaning zones, set schedules, establish no-go areas, and tailor cleaning intensity per room.
Integration with voice assistants such as Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri Shortcuts adds convenience, though the app itself remains the primary control interface.
There are occasional reports of connectivity inconsistencies, but these appear to be intermittent rather than systemic.
Battery performance is adequate for most homes, typically allowing a full cleaning cycle in small to medium spaces without interruption. Larger homes will trigger recharge-and-resume behavior, which the system handles without issue.
Long-term ownership introduces the usual maintenance considerations. Consumables such as filters, mop pads, and dust bags require periodic replacement. While not unusual for this category, the cumulative cost is worth accounting for when evaluating overall value.
The Roborock QV 35A does not attempt to compete at the absolute top of the market. Instead, it focuses on delivering the features that materially impact daily use, and it executes on that goal with consistency.
It achieves a meaningful portion of flagship functionality, particularly in automation and navigation, while maintaining a more accessible price point. The compromises it makes are visible but generally acceptable within its category.
For users seeking a low-maintenance cleaning system that handles the majority of tasks without intervention, the QV 35A represents one of the more balanced options currently available.
Handles dust emptying, mop cleaning, drying, and refilling automatically, reducing manual maintenance to near zero.
LiDAR-based system creates precise maps quickly and follows efficient, consistent cleaning paths with minimal errors.
Dual spinning pads provide active scrubbing that removes everyday dirt and light stains better than basic mop systems.
Delivers many premium features and performance levels at a noticeably lower price than flagship models.
This model is best suited for homes with a mix of hard flooring and light carpeting, where automation and convenience are prioritized over maximum cleaning intensity.
It is less suitable for carpet-heavy environments or for users expecting deep-cleaning performance comparable to traditional vacuums.
